#photography milestone: It has now been ten years since Copal shutters, the standard mechanical clockwork devices used to control exposure time and aperture on virtually all large-format and most medium-format lenses since 1946, have been manufactured. The industry hasn't yet developed a standard replacement, and Copal's back stock was depleted a few years ago. There are a few proprietary electronic shutters used by some vendors, but there's no longer a standard interchangeable leaf shutter.
