This harpoon was supposed to fire into Comet Churyumov‐Gerasimenko & anchor the Philae lander to the surface.
For reasons still unclear, the harpoon malfunctioned and little Philae spent 2 hours doing a slow-motion bounce across the comet -- yet still survived.
