My son's M1 Macbook Air recently died, about a month out of warranty.
Took it to the repair shop. The motherboard had fried, apparently. The hard drive is not removable or recoverable, by design.
The repair tech he'd see this happen about 20 times with the same model.
#Apple chose extreme thinness over repairability and durability.
I don't plan to reward them with repeat business for a replacement.
https://frame.work/ is a top contender for an alternative.
