I have to ask the Fediverse and general internet:
Is there some kind of coordinated effort or database of lost files?
I have been building a small database of lost mod files, and I've realized that even someone like me who is on the lookout for this stuff, will (probably) never have the time to fully dig through my old horribly disorganized drives manually. I've been thinking about this for a while, and I believe some kind of tool that intelligently scans a database of files will help us find lost files. Who knows, you could start scanning old thrown out PCs and might find previously lost media without having to manually waste hours crawling through someone's personal files.
I ask around because duplicated effort is a waste and I'd rather contribute, but if there isn't anything that specific or niche, I don't mind working on a tool/database for this specific purpose.
