Phones are the defacto replacement for PCs for the bulk of the population, so it's to be expected they'll suffer the same bloat that PCs suffered for many years. I remember the instant on era of PCs in the 80s and the awful experience it evolved into with spinning hard drives till only a few years back when SSDs rejuvenated them. However we have infinite ability to keep bloating the OS no matter how fast the hardware and storage gets.
