While I agree bitcoin adoption now is like internet adoption in the 90s, the internet was not replacing anything. It was a new way to communicate and there were huge vested interests in making it successful (telecom companies, any company wanting to sell anything online really, governments pushing increased productivity etc). Bitcoin replaces the broken fiat system and there are huge vested interests in seeing it fail (govts, banks, central banks). So while it is like the internet in the 90s, the vested interests against bitcoin are a magnitude stronger.
