i have seen a long post lamenting the decline of the yahoo! directory and the rise of google

but unfortunately i was alive and using the web at the time, so i remember things differently

the yahoo directory was already off centre stage by the mid nineties, and yahoo search used altavista in 97, then inktomi in 98, well before google arrived

and then yahoo search used google for a bit, heh
