I recently moved from rsync-with-hardlinks to borg. It's faster and handles its own encryption so can use an untrusted remote filesystem.
My initial reservation was against extra backup software that might not be available to restore after a disaster, but borg and borgmatic are included in the standard Fedora repos now.
