I appreciate your perspective, and I absolutely agree that food production—whether plant-based or animal-based—has an impact on ecosystems. However, the key point here is the scale of impact. Producing plant-based foods, even with the challenges of farming, generally requires far fewer resources and results in significantly less ecosystem destruction compared to industrial animal agriculture.

For instance:

- Animal agriculture is one of the leading drivers of deforestation, habitat loss, and biodiversity decline. Large areas of land are cleared not just for grazing but to grow feed crops like soy and corn, which could otherwise be used to feed people directly.

- Raising animals for food also consumes massive amounts of water and contributes more greenhouse gas emissions than plant-based farming.

That said, I completely agree that regenerative agriculture is an exciting and promising way forward. Practices that restore soil health and biodiversity can benefit both plant-based and mixed farming systems. What’s important is to focus on sustainable and ethical methods, whether you’re growing kale or raising animals.

At the end of the day, none of us live impact-free lives—but we can make choices that minimize harm. By reducing or eliminating animal products, individuals can dramatically reduce their ecological footprint while supporting methods like regenerative farming for the crops we do consume.

P.S. I was raised and lived half of my life on a farm. 🐄🐔🌾👨🏼‍🌾🚜
