You missed a step, grifters in the financial industry take a slice from selling offsets from planting trees to fossil fuel using companies. Said trees Eventually burn down releasing the sliver of CO2 they sequestered, grifters don't have to return money from the failed offset projects BUT grifters then get to sell even more offsets and take another slice on the way thorough.
Climate change solutions proposed are great for "business", until there's no civilization left of course. None of them are actually about reducing emissions.
We need to retire some 200GW of fossil fuel electricity a year and we're currenkty net expanding coal and gas electricity production... and jailing protestors.
