#WritersCoffeeClub Many writers own cats. Is pet ownership essential for your writing?
100% no.
I currently don’t have pets. From memory, my cats only acknowledged me when I was busy (e.g. rolling on my notebook, attacking the pen in my hand, walking on the keyboard, mistaking the in-tray on my desk as a litter tray, deliberately vomiting a hairball to thwart my plans) so owning one would greatly impede my writing.
Is there actually any truth in this tired writer=cats stereotype?
100% no.
