My family is here too but I really don’t see them that often. I would probably see them more if I lived half a world away bc when I came home the incentive for everyone to get together would be greater.
When I weigh things out it is a much better decision for me personally to live in another country. The U.S. is headed in the wrong direction (has been for many decades), the taxes are high, cost of living is high, potential for tyrannical shit is high (money printer), and it’s literally ugly here. I don’t vibe with the ethos of this place or many of my countrymen. I’m treated much better and make friends more readily in other countries, it’s pretty crazy actually.
Knowing all that I’ve made up my mind up to get a second passport and eventually (most likely) renunciate my US passport. Just need to build my business out a bit more to be remote and tie up some loose ends.
