The difference of opinion we share is a good sign, in my mind at least, that the word "folk" is a lot more fluid in meaning than either of us are giving it credit for. Usage really does change over time, as I think I wrote about they/them earlier in this thread. Twice since the 1970s. Folks? Maybe?
