There is a fundamental challenge in ActivityPub that I don't think can be overcome, but that I'd love to see some serious thought put into:
An equivalent to ATProto's Lexicons
Right now there is _no_ ability to do server side sorting or filtering in a way that is cross-compatible, and no way to advertise what sorting features you support if you do support any. There's no way to specify how many of which resources they need to download in order to get information either
