Instead of blocking when threads are highly socially or politically charged, why not instead a small charge to participate (e.g.: like 50 sats)?
I don't think blocking would be a good idea unless there is a strong reason.
For example there is someone with the picture of a vagina but I am OK with that. I wouldn't try to block him but possibly set a minimal amount of sats for example for private messages.
