well you can get more than one plant out of a potato, my grandpa actually made shallow cuts around the chits, least two pieces per seed, said plant them cut side down, i let them heal over before planting htem so they didn't just rot real quick, still only one came up
but that could honestly be attributed to anything including that store bought potatoes are sprayed with growth inhibiter
