Spurred by so many of my tree and shrub babies having had to endure, and being visibly delayed by, back to back to back arid springs followed by two too-wet summers in a row (each highlighted by “100 year” floods) and the general off-the-rails erraticism of the weather: what if it is now, or soon becomes, *too late* in many places to grow the woody plants (here it’s chestnuts, hazels, walnuts, heartnuts, etc, etc) that seem like part of the consensus answer for a given bioregion to the coming agriculture collapse? What if the weather just gets too wild to establish tree crops?
