I know this isn’t the point of your story here but I’m honestly surprised your friend actually put in that much effort to even try to find something. It seems like the vast majority of ppl who will say something like that to a disabled person don’t even bother investigating. They just keep assuming whatever they did before.
I also think you have superhuman patience and grace, bc if it were me, that person wouldn’t be my friend anymore.
