That's nothing. Only about 4 people on nostr truly know the history of Bitcoin, but Martti Malmi (Martti Malmi (nprofile…suzd)) is one of its unsung heroes. He worked alone with Satoshi that whole first year, building its foundation almost single-handedly. He is in truth the de-facto successor of Satoshi.
Not only that. Martti helped bootstrap the trillion-dollar Bitcoin economy we see today by selling many many thousands of mined btc AT COST to create liquidity—without profiting. This was under $10 and under $1 I think much of it. Despite these sacrifices, he couldn’t even afford to support himself working on open source and had to look for jobs elsewhere. Luckily we started nostr and were able to support his work.
Meanwhile, others exploited Bitcoin for personal gain. For example, the infamous ‘bear whale’ bought up thousands of BTC to manipulate the market and promote scams like Ripple.
Even today, Martti continues to build tirelessly, contributing to projects like Nostr, Iris, and Snort—all without complaint. His dedication embodies the spirit of open source and the values Bitcoin was founded on.
We are mythologizing the wrong people. Martti is really too humble to seek such praise. But history will remember him as the ultimate OG. OP is a spectacular video but the real heroes still work among us :)
