I used to see that a lot back in the day, but in reverse. iPhone users were the loud ones, I imagine that's because we were younger and cared about showing off our expensive toys for status.
I see what you're saying more often now. Usually from like, a power user perspective. People who like to tinker and customize a lot. You see that a lot in the Linux OS space too.
