I'm wondering if there would be a possibility to introduce simpler profile names - something along the lines of the system used in GPG. user can query a central server using an email address to get a public key and additional profile information...
I know... Such a system with Nostr could require some degree of centralization, which is contrary to the basic philosophy of the protocol. Nevertheless, perhaps there is a way to find a compromise between ease of use and principles of decentralization?
Is there a possibility to apply a similar approach in Nostr, to allow users to more easily identify each other, without compromising security and privacy in the process?
I see possibility to query server with email and get the id of profile in nostr the same way i can get gpg
HKP (HTTP Keyserver Protocol)
gpg --keyserver hkp://pool.sks-keyservers.net --search-keys real@donaldbump.com
#nostr
