I don't pay close attention to window manager development, afaik Cinnamon forked from GNOME many years ago. it's not something I'd use in a VM or a resource-constrained environment but in the context of a daily driver desktop machine... it rarely fucks up even when used heavily for long periods of time, and doesn't cause enough problems to make me mad or even to remember that it exists most of the time
