The custom jacket I ordered is ready and I am excited! Silly but it’s been a very long process to find something that used high quality material, fit me, and use very specific textiles in a traditional way. I looked for 5 years and at a ratty #punkrock flea market found a rack of them but none fit. They agreed to make one custom, awesome, priced it way below (1/3 the price) of similar quality and ticked every box.
I had confidence this was the right person to do this but I didn’t put much stock into the “I will have it ready for you mid January”. Yesterday, the 15th, I had an email saying it will be ready Saturday.
Again, punk runk flea market, my people but time is a concept for a lot. I learned quick and fast in the tattoo business the only time that mattered was you better not be late for an appointment with a deposit.
Anyway long story short, even before I have the jacket, this maker/small business owner has impressed the shit out of me. My business world has been rough lately so it’s felt really good to have a human just doing what they say they will, no fuss. It’s how I strive to be and admire it in others. I admire a lot of punks but something that always stands out is pride, honor, and respect. No contracts, terms of use, and legal stuff. A hand shake, half the price in cash up front the balance due in cash, on time. I miss that part of the tattoo world a lot, hard to find in my tech job.
