continued from above:
And if anyone needed forgiveness of sins and a change in life trajectory, it was that young Jewish man. And so, I knelt beside my bunk in the navy barracks in Yokosuka, Japan and told God I believed Jesus is the Messiah.
What I meant by that was that I was so very sorry – terribly sorry – for my many and varied and oft times horrible sins.
I am today in the middle of my 74th year since birth. Were it not for my ‘rebirth’ 52 years ago at Christmas Time . . . well, it’s easy for me to extrapolate how my life would have turned out. And I so very much thank God for the gifts He gave me as I knelt beside my bunk – the gift of forgiveness, the gift of His incomprehensible love, and for the unshakeable promise of life forever with Him.
But, enough about me. I share my story hoping that it is also YOUR story. Not that you knelt beside a navy bunk, but that you also, at some time in your life, gave your life to Jesus.
So, how long has it been since you did that? And if you have in the past given yourself to Christ, then why not on this Christmas day, give Him the gift of yourself once again? Right now, why don’t you stop reading this for a moment and thank Him again for His forgiveness of your sins, for giving you a clean slate every time you repent, and for loving you as no one ever has, or ever could, love you?
And if you never have sought God's forgiveness of your sins, oh! PLEASE, as soon as you finish reading this, won’t you please look toward heaven and do as everyone must do who longs for a new life, a clean slate: Tell Him you are sorry for your sins, that you repent of your sins, that you want a clean slate and a new life.
You have God's unyielding promise that all who come to Him will be gladly received by Him.
