A Rust developer was making fun of the C developer one day for being so slow and insecure.
"Do you ever get anywhere?" he asked with a mocking laugh.
"Yes," replied the C developer, "and I get there sooner than you think. I'll write you a program and prove it."
The Rust developer was much amused at the idea of writing a program against the C developer, but for the fun of the thing he agreed. So the Assembly developer, who had consented to act as judge, wrote the requirements and started the developers off.
The Rust developers was soon far out of sight, and to make the C developers feel very deeply how ridiculous it was for him to try a race with Rust, he spent most of the time on social media praising Rust and creating pulls in other projects to suggest a Rust rewrite.
The C developer meanwhile kept going slowly but steadily, and, after a time, passed the place where the Rust was proselytizing. But the Rust developer kept on very smugly; and when at last he did began writing up, the C developer was near the goal. The Rust developer now cried he was being oppressed but he could not overtake the C developer in time.
