CA and NY Democratic Parties are basically just job clubs that see themselves as neo-liberal-but-cool-with-gays. I doubt we’ll see a ton of regulatory efforts or pushback there. There’s the potential for reform in places like Colorado or Illinois, where there’s at least some potential for responsiveness, but man it is bleak out there.
