With these 'vaccines', instead of actually putting some of the disease in the patient like most other vaccines, it is actually just putting in the antibodies for the venom in the patient. So it's not actually introducing the venom, it's just adding some immunoglobulins that would be present if there was venom, for the T and B cells to remember.

There are conflicting ideologies on whether the rattlesnake vaccine provides a clinically significant difference, so I would def suggest asking your vet about it prior
