I had a further thought about the difference between b&w and color photography. I said in another thread that color wants to emulate what we see, whereas b&w wants to evoke an image in us. It follows that active interpretation of the negative is essential in b&w.
It occurred to me that my physical and artistic engagement with the negative in creating a positive that says just what I want it to say is what AI will never be able to do for me.
