I understand why we ended up with #bridgyFed being opt in, but shouldn't it post its requests to federate (at least on BlueSky) as public messages? That way the recipient would definitely see them and other people might be encouraged to decide to use it too.
Most people on BlueSky aren't going to be aware of federation and frankly won't care.
