I like to view the global feed on noStrudel sometimes, mostly because it's pure unfiltered chaos.
Kinda a mix of like... millions of ridiculous spam bots, lots of vague/esoteric posts such as random strings of numbers with no readily apparent meaning, memes, people advertising/shilling one thing or another, people making pithy quotes feeling more important than they are, some people actually posting newsworthy/useful information, and then a very, very small amount of normal people just posting stuff like pictures of their garden or pets or food or something.
I have seen a lot of discussion from the people I follow lately about the increased amount of spam and it is absolutely getting weird.
I really just wanted to ask this: I am a programmer but my background is purely in C++ and not related to web dev in any way. I've never had a need or interest in trying to work with bots that interact with the internet. But I can't for the life of me figure out the potential gain, the use case, or the reason to create bots that do shit like this. Global feed is infested with these type of posts, they happen hundreds of times per minute and ReplyGuy is on every single one of them. Does anyone have an idea of why anyone would waste time creating something like this, if not specifically for trying to make things worse? Appears to be just random fragments of words and phrases that make no sense.
