I share this fear and I agree it’s often unarticulated. One somewhat optimistic counterpoint: humans need each other simply for good health and happiness. Thousands of years ago we needed tribes to survive, now we need tribes to thrive. If we thread the needle and find ourselves in a post-scarcity world where AI/robots produce our food and basic needs, we’ll still need and want each other. I’ll still grow my own food and share it with friends because it makes me happy. But it’s a hell of a delicate path to tread and unfortunately, a dystopian scenario such as yours seems one of the more likely outcomes.
