Now I'm not in the US so correct me if I'm wrong, but from my observation Democrats have been divided because of the US backing of genocides and wars in the middle-east. Obviously these disgruntled dems aren't going to vote for Trump, but instead chose not to turn out to vote. Reuters reported that more unaffiliated voters turned out to vote than democrats, for the first time in history. This is on the Dem's administration upholding historic US war-mongering foreign policy. This was the message.
