I think the reason even a lot of hurt guys don't like women defending them(in terms of legal stuff and culture) is because they feel like they are being defended out of a desire for the woman to fuck them and they don't want to fuck out of obligation or something.
Which I think is very much the case that women love being defended by guys like Leaf and still won't give him sex because they feel no such obligation unlike men.
Tl;dr Men don't like owning stuff to others while women never feel the need to pay back
