The govt is afraid of the general population having access to AI, so they argue to wall it off, install gatekeepers, & build in surveillance and controls for only "approved" AI tools.
But the govt SHOULD be afraid of the people. The last thing I want is the govt having access to the most advanced AI tools, which they will - and already are - using to learn how to kill and control people more effectively, while they squeal about even allowing neutered & "safe" options for everyone else. That's a recipe for tyranny.
What we need is a massive step toward *removing* the power imbalance between the people and govt, and AI is going to be a major part of that.
