where do you think most value will reside in the future? digital cloud software ai etc OR physical objects like oil, water, weapons.
i think digital will outweigh physical by a crazy factor. thus, what does a nation state actually protect? it used to be the best way to protect a population and allow for large factories. nations kept growing if the physical areas were worthwhile or they could defend themselves better with that additional area.
if digital has more value in the future, then physical wars will only be fought by desperate powers trying to cling to power. the juice will not be worth the squeeze to take over iran for oil. instead produce value in your juris and buy the oil and spend 1/1000th of the price on defensive hackers/drone swarms for assymnetric defense.
