I just unfollowed someone for sarcastically mocking folks asking for alt text with an "apology" that ended with an alt-less image.
Alt text isn't easy. People often don't know how to write it, or they forget — and platforms are awful at reminding them. We should have grace and understanding there.
But if you're going to grandstand about being driven off the platform by folks asking for alt text… consider the effect that undescribed images might have for the folks who need alt text.
