If you burned out from your old profession, it's not that you're unable to do other kinds of work. It's more that businesses aren't very interested in hiring a middle-aged dropout off the street. It's not a very attractive prospect to them.

Watching your career burn to the ground while other IT professionals your age settle down and receive promotions is pretty harsh.

As a nerd and bored high school dropout, IT was my best bet. Turns out IT can be pretty boring too.
