My major problem with FUTO and some of their claims is how I must pay them for a software license.
Using the keyboard as an example:
They require an email. I can use a burner. Whatever.
They require my zip code for "tax purposes." Yeah, okay. I can make one up. Still annoying though.
Time for payment. Stripe.
All of this shit effectively ties my identity to the keyboard I'm using on my phone. I'm not saying this info is stored or even seen by the licensor, but all of it is collected, which is bad enough.
Mullvad is an example of how paid software/services can work without all of this nonsense. I'm even willing to eat the tax issue if you let me choose the jurisdiction I want to (it told me where I was and demanded a zip code).
