quoting nevent1q…mtlzThe Backwardness of Quantum Mechanics
There's a famous series of experiments in which light is projected through a number of slits cut into a material.
With one slit, the light projects in a relatively flat pattern believed to be consistent with the behavior of particles but not waves.
With multiple slits, the lights forms an interference pattern believed to be consistent with the behavior of waves but not particles.
The standard interpretation in physics is that light is both a wave and a particle.
A more sound intepretation in my view is that light is NEITHER a wave nor a particle. One experiment rules out one, and the other experiment rules out the other.
This is the proper scientific method, in which an experiment disproves a theory of the world we had assembled based on observation, rather than (erroneously) confirming multiple incompatible theories despite known contradictory evidence.
