We must weigh not only the evidence for/against a conclusion, but the evidence for/against the reliability of our information sources. Science has a lot of evidence to support its reliability -- far more than any religion, IMO -- but it's still an educated guess any time we draw a conclusion based on evidence. Contrast this with the only other alternative, which is to guess *without* evidence, i.e. to make a leap of faith. I know which method I'll trust, but I have no illusions about its limitations.
