Godzilla vs Hedorah is terrible as a traditional Godzilla film. Godzilla is very weird and goofy in it. His intro theme sounds like clown music
But as an avante-garde take on Godzilla, this is an incredible film.
The toxicity of Hedorah is portrayed in really shocking scenes of humans caught in the deathly smog. There are animated abstract interludes, and other surprising film techniques. There’s a psychedelic dance raves where one. Of the main leads gets so drunk they imagine everyone else has turned into fish-people.
You shouldn’t watch this as your first Godzilla film, but it’s a great original addition in the midst of the traditional entries.
