Am I the only person who thinks that any headphones with active noise cancelling just sound really bad?

I mean yes but this technology always really distorts and compresses the music you're trying to listen to.

I feel like my music sounds better with any potential background noise than with no background noise and ANC turned on. So what's the point of these gimmicks?
