The Latin American Special Olympics Games commence in Asunción later this week!
Around1,000 athletes from 20 different countries across Latin America are making their way to Paraguay right now, with the Special Olympics starting in just three days!
Special Olympics are very different than the Paralympics. In the Paralympics, athletes have a physical disability. In the Special Olympics, performing athletes have an intellectual disability, Down syndrome, autism, or another similar challenge to overcome in addition to the sporting challenges.
Over 2,000 volunteers are helping to make this happen - and you can participate by attending the Games in person if you're in Asunción, or by following along on the Panam Sports Channel.
