Genuine question:
How do we feel about the KIDNAPPED posters? You know the ones
I'm asking both about the posters themselves and what is happening to them
Like. On the one hand. This is clearly, like, a Zionist or pro-Israeli propaganda initiative. It legitimizes Tel Aviv's case for a just war
On the other hand, well, the message is... factual, and not (explicitly) hateful. Big bold tabloid font is a vibe, but like, they were amlnd are kidnapped, lol. Additionally, the mere act of vandalizing or tagging these posters sort of fits into the strategy of the campaign, right. Like right-wing columnists from the UK to here and elsewhere have been making hay out of this
They're bait, basically. And like, I kind of feel some sort of response is warranted - but what is appropriate? A marker tag like "Defund Isreal ; IDF = Nazis" (seen in MTL as of this morn) doesn't cut it
I don't really presume to think there's any way to have a coordinated, principled response becuz, like, society is fragmented. Also, fuck worrying TOO much about optics. But I am curious about what other people might be thinking (even folks with different politics than me - within reason)
What's a good way to productively interrupt this psy op, basically?
#Israel #Palestine
