Very odd afternoon going to collect my father's ashes. I wasn't tearful and it was a surreal experience rather than upsetting. My lovely brother-in-law came with me and while we were at the funeral directors shared the story of when he scattered his mum's ashes which went horribly wrong in every way possible and ended up being like a comedy sketch. I'd heard part of the story before from my sister but it was way worse than she let on.

We all ended up laughing and then the staff in the funeral parlour shared some equally funny anecdotes about ash scattering which it seems is very hazardous! I am now very aware of what to avoid when we make final arrangements for Dad.
