There's a difference between someone asking for *everyone's* recommendation and someone asking for *a particular person's* recommendation.
If someone toots at me and asks for a recommendation, I would prefer to respond in a way that keeps the discussion open yet prevents thread hijacking.
I can hardly respond to a question without it becoming a large mess of replies, and that's noisy both for me and the original poster, who I want to respect when I answer their question.
