Moving away from Gmail was actually way easier than I thought it’d be. I had been using it since 2008, and so I assumed it would take me ages to stop receiving emails there once I moved to npub1wjwj5r9ytyhgg7nwmy75t8xrhphw6c8kq94fuv0qdjg6g0fruffq02ue5t (npub1wjw…ue5t).
Luckily, not so. I went through npub12qez4j3dhqgz9nfwnwm437gm8tgmrcvk6qj5yv0g6x7wrkvhksmqyvenlx (npub12qe…enlx) and changed the email address of each of my known accounts one at a time. After that, I waited a few weeks to see what else I received in my Gmail inbox and either changed those email addresses or unsubscribed from various newsletters. I’m now down to maybe two emails per month in the old inbox, and they’re never anything that I care about.
