Feel ya on this one.
I worked support for a password manager where the user was fully responsible for their backup key.
Not fully comparable to losing generational wealth, but many many situations where people lost access to pretty much every single account they ever owned, along with other very important info - maybe even some seed phrases.
The UX couldn't have been made simpler - it's just that people have lost the ability to take personal responsibility because there's always a way to "reset your password". Their minds were always blown when I'd basically respond with "sorry nothing we can do"
