The "admins can read your DMs" discourse is *yawn*.

This stuff has been going on a long time. When I ran a BBS 25 years ago I could theoretically read everyone's private mails. Did I? Absolutely not. No interest in doing so.

If you don't trust your instance admin then move instances.
