Gov't should fund pure science and tech development (e.g. software) and make *all the results publicly accessible* for both private & commercial use, but with a 'Share Alike' license. This would be much like the US' historical practice of putting all gov't funded research into the public domain, allowing it to be built upon *by anyone*. It opens up vast opportunities for improving the human condition - Gov't needs to focus on that. Not private profit. 5/n
